Responsibilities
- Conceptualizes designs and analyzes/selects appropriate materials and processes.
- Performs engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, FMEAs on design concepts.
- Works with Designers to create models and drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor.
- May create own 3D models in Inventor.
- Researches and understands the basic requirements of appropriate manufacturing standards for components, subassemblies, and heaters.
- Performs components and heater cost analysis.
- Supports the creation of documentation (drawings, manuals, labels, literature)
- Supports production as needed.?
- Researches and understands the applicable industry and government standards (CSA, CE, UL, NSF, ASME, etc.). Ensure products are compliant, through in-house testing before 3rd party testing.
- Works with Tech. Service, Quality and Warranty teams to resolve quality issues
- Works with R&D Technicians to create test plans and perform tests. Evaluates testing results and determines next steps based on results.
- Will be working with all departments, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Quality, Product Management, Tech. Service and Warranty throughout development cycle.
- Minor project management duties to ensure projects meet the timeline, project cost, performance, quality and safety requirements.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher
- (0-5) years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering/Product Design Environment.
- Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles with practical, hands-on approach to analysis and problem solving
- Strong understanding of the following:
- heat transfer, fluid flow, thermodynamics
- combustion, heat exchanger design, multi-pass heat exchangers, pre-mix combustion systems, atmospheric combustion systems preferred
- appliance design, HVAC design preferred
- pressure vessel design, material selection preferred
- Ability to quickly grasp and implement new ideas, concepts, and programs to improve product and department efficiency.
- Experience in sheet metal, injection molding, machining and cast parts preferred.
