What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Service Supervisor position at Bradford County?
JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises people who are under court supervision as they perform their community service in various areas of the County. The position will primarily involve running the Probation department’s Litter Brigade program. The Community Service Supervisor works in conjunction with the Community Service Coordinator to supervise other community service activities as needed.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The person in this class must be able to and be comfortable with working with individuals under the supervision of the court.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Drives probation/parolees in an extended van to their community service destination.
Supervise probation/parolees as they perform their community service.
Complete reports for both Penn Dot and the Community Service Coordinator.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Subject to working indoors and outdoors in a variety of terrain and weather conditions.
Always in contact with those under the supervision of the court.
PHYSICAL and MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions;
Must be able to sit for long periods of time with frequent periods of standing, walking, and occasional twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing required for obtaining files, doing inspections or other job duties;
Dexterity requirements range from simple to complex movements of fingers/hands, legs/feet, or torso to carry out job duties;
Sedentary work with occasional lifting, 15-20 pounds;
Must demonstrate emotional stability;
Ability to cope with physical and mental stress of the position;
Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
Must be able to restrain inmates or run down inmates if needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment, and of business arithmetic and English; knowledge of word processing and database software; ability to learn new computer programs; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; ability to multi-task; ability to get along well with others; ability to write legibly; clerical aptitude; accuracy; mental alertness; tact and courtesy.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
Previous experience with working with those under court supervision preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive an extended van appropriately. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
