Responsibilities
- Supervise children during before and after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging youth activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports, and educational projects
- Manage behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and effective behavior management strategies
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to first aid protocols, CPR procedures, AED operation, and emergency response guidelines
- Support children with homework assistance or tutoring as needed to promote academic success
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate outdoor activities, camp-style experiences, or special events that enhance youth engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress or concerns while maintaining confidentiality
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in educational settings, daycare environments, or youth programs is highly preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
- Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and familiarity with first aid protocols (certifications must be current)
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle behavioral challenges effectively
- Experience facilitating youth group activities or sports coaching is a plus
- Ability to work outdoors comfortably during recreational activities or outdoor work experiences
- Excellent child supervision skills combined with patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Background in special education or experience working with children with diverse needs is advantageous
