What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Branch Director (Plano Branch) position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Supporting the overall day-to-day operations of a designated Branch. Assist with the successful delivery of a broad range of programs, such as Education, Programs, Outcome Measures, and Youth Success. Provide leadership and supervision to assigned program and volunteer staff; as well as supervise staff, when assigned.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Assist the Branch Director in implementing designated programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
- Establish and maintain program goals and settings that ensure the health
- Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
- Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
- Maintain a youth friendly environment that exhibits youth success and recognition.
- Maintain a volunteer database to assist with program needs.
2. Partner with Branch Director to lead efforts in member recruitment and retention
Program Development and Implementation
3. Assist the Branch Director with a plan and implementing overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation.
- Develop Program Calendar for Branch Program and Activities
- Review and compile all reports reflecting Branch attendance, participation and activities.
- Implement recruitment plan to increase enrollment
Resource Management
4. Partner with staff to ensure program/activity expenditures within approved budget.
Leadership
5. Partner with Branch Director to ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups. Encourage compliance with organization policies.
6. Assist with leadership of branch staff and volunteers, as directed.
- Ensure concerns are escalated to Branch Director in a timely manner
- Encourage staff to remain compliant with trainings
- Partner with Branch Director to carryout staff recognition & appreciation, as needed
Event Management
7. Partner with Teen Director, Education Director, and Program Director to ensure successful events occur, as directed
Marketing and Public Relations
8. Partner with Branch Director to maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with Branch Director
- Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
- Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
- Ensure that all decisions are clear, fair and consistent
- Assume other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Provide leadership to designated extension sites, when directed.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information.
- Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club, when directed.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Four year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys and Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff.
- Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
- Working knowledge of budget management.
- Skills in coordinating events.
- Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
