What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Professional - Teen Center – Camp Souhegan position at Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley?
This position is part-time/seasonal and non-exempt
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Teen Center Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for ensuring a quality summer camp experience for our teen/tween members. They must be enthusiastic, dependable, and passionate about working with adolescents. The position’s key function is to supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, to oversee the day-to-day operations of the assigned program space, collaborating with other YDPs, and providing opportunities for youth to gain new skills and participate in engaging programs. Duties include but are not limited to motivating teens by participating in creative activities and programs, building activities/curriculum based on themes, mentoring youth and being a positive role model.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of participants in the program by providing appropriate supervision at all times.
- Assists in implementing meaningful activities and collaborate with program coordinators and the director to facilitate plans that are age-appropriate, exciting, challenging, and based in the areas of academics, STEAM, character development, community service, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyles.
- Prepares the environment and facilitate activities as necessary, ensuring adequate supplies for program activities.
- Works cooperatively with program staff to ensure the needs and interests of our members are being met.
- Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
- Creates and maintains a strength-based, youth-focused atmosphere that is consistent and sensitive to the needs of participants with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences.
- Serves as a positive role model for participants.
- Maintains accurate program documentation (attendance, sign-in/out forms, behavior/incident/accident reports, as appropriate).
- Adheres to all Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Actively participates in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. May participate in and/or lead special programs and/or events.
2. May be required to drive a Club van (age requirement applies).
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Knowledge and experience working or volunteering in a youth development or related field
- Experience in facilitating and implementing programs for children
- Knowledge of youth development.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (club van driver requirement applies)
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
