Camp Brighton is looking for a fun, energetic, enthusiastic, engaging summer camp director, who loves working with children and being outside in the mountains. The Director will create and sustain a fun, safe atmosphere while leading a group of summer camp counselors. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in teaching, childhood development and summer camp management. The Director will have the ability to add to Camp Brighton’s evolution and growth by expanding the current curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Consistently maintain a positive attitude while showing appreciation, support and gratitude within the staff. Provide guidance, support and motivation for all counselors and campers.
- Oversee the safety and wellbeing of all campers ages 6-15
- Organizing and facilitating games, activities, excursions, etc…
- Welcome and engage with campers and parents during drop-off and pickup
- Daily cleaning and organizing of facilities and activities with staff
- Understanding and implementing all protocols and procedures for camper safety
- Communication with parents, counselors and other resort managers
- Holding a high level of accountability for counselors in regards to professionalism, punctuality and performance reviews.
- Driving van of campers daily up and down the canyon
- Efficiently manage labor to stay within budget
- Maintaining a professional atmosphere at Camp Brighton, and ensuring staff is always in a approved Brighton uniform with a name tag.
Qualifications
- Substantial teaching experience or summer camp management
- Childhood development experience
- FUN, ENGAGING, ENTHUSIATIC and enjoys working with kids.
- Preferred experience leading a team of counselors/adults
- Significant experience working with children ages 6-15
- A physical fitness level able to lead hikes, activities and games at 9000 ft. over steep mountainous terrain
- Comfortable hiking miles throughout the rugged mountains of Brighton daily.
- Reliable, flexible and caring
- High level of emotional intelligence to foster strong relationships with counselors and campers
- Commitment to work Monday through Friday from June 19 through Aug 9 and as needed
- CPR and First Aid certified
