Overview

 

The Highlands is seeking friendly and service-oriented Servers to join our team for the season. This full-time or part-time position plays a key role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for our guests. Servers are responsible for taking orders, delivering food and beverages, and providing attentive, high-quality guest service in a fast-paced environment.

 

We are looking for enthusiastic servers to join our teams in the Slopeside Lounge,  Zoo Bar, and our Main Dining Room (breakfast shift).

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Primary Responsibilities (60–80% of time)

  • Greet guests warmly and make them feel welcome and well cared for

  • Inform guests of daily specials and any menu changes

  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and input them into the point-of-sale (POS) system

  • Deliver food and beverages promptly and ensure proper presentation

  • Make thoughtful menu recommendations and use suggestive selling techniques to enhance the guest experience

  • Provide detailed information about menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and sourcing

  • Perform opening and closing side work as required by assigned service station

  • Keep service and dining areas clean and well-organized throughout the shift

  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the meal; respond quickly and courteously to any concerns or special requests

  • Present checks, process payments accurately, and return change or receipts as appropriate

  • Assist with clearing and resetting tables in coordination with support staff

Secondary Responsibilities (20–40% of time)

  • Answer guest questions about menu items, beverages, and restaurant services

  • Support fellow servers and team members as needed during busy periods

  • Provide information about The Highlands and the surrounding area to assist guests with inquiries

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other non-essential tasks as assigned by management

  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support restaurant operations


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

These are the minimum qualifications required to be considered for this position.

Education:

  • Must be ServSafe certified (or obtain certification upon hire)

  • Must be at least 18 years old

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of front-of-house or hospitality experience required

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally

  • Ability to stand and walk for 6–8 hours or more per shift

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and squatting

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to warm, noisy kitchen environments

  • Frequent time spent in dining areas with elevated noise levels

  • Occasional work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Must be able to adapt to changing temperatures throughout shift

Schedule Requirements:

  • Must be available for morning and evening shifts

  • Weekend and holiday availability is required

  • Flexible scheduling may be necessary depending on business needs
