Sheet Metal Installer Responsibilities
- Fabricate, cut, and shape sheet metal (aluminum, galvanized steel, stainless steel, copper) using hand tools, power tools, brakes, shears, and welding equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.
- Install sheet metal components for HVAC systems, including ductwork, vents, hoods, plenums, and related assemblies.
- Measure, layout, and mark dimensions on materials following project plans.
- Fit, assemble, and secure metal parts using screws, bolts, rivets, welds, and sealants.
- Perform system testing and adjustments, including checking for air leaks and balancing airflow.
- Coordinate with other trades to sequence work efficiently.
- Follow safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper tool use.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and climb ladders to work at heights.
- Experience in crawling in attics, basements, and tight mechanical spaces.
- Familiarity with operating lifts and other equipment is preferred.
- Possession of a personal set of tools is a significant advantage.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
