Boulder County Human Services is seeking to hire a Bilingual Family Time Caseworker.  This position will provide vital support to parents, facilitating meaningful family time that honors the diversity and cultural backgrounds of each family. This position will ensure compliance with HB 23-1027 regulations, fostering strong partnerships within the community to empower families. Our team is passionate about celebrating the unique strengths of every family and fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive environment. Through this work, you’ll provide invaluable support to families navigating challenging times, empowering them toward reunification.This is a full-time, benefited position that will work between the hours of 9am - 6:30pm, Monday - Friday. Some Saturday work as required to meet the needs of families.  This position will work out of 515 Coffman Street in Longmont, CO. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $62,520.00 - $76,284.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

  • Phone Screening: Week of January 26th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of January 26th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of February 2nd
  • Language Proficiency Testing:  Week of February 2nd
  • Reference Check: Week of February 2nd

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month (Must not have been employed at Boulder County during the 12 months prior to re-hire date to qualify). Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

  1. Provide family time services that respect and uplift families' unique cultural identities, ensuring every member feels valued and included
  2. Support and monitor family time between children in open child welfare cases and their parents, identifying strengths, challenges, and any safety concerns during family time
  3. Offer coaching and intervention when necessary to ensure a safe, supportive environment
  4. Transport children to and from family time sessions, ensuring their safety and comfort, including carrying infants and toddlers as needed
  5. Document and observe parent-child interactions, focusing on highlighting strengths and providing constructive feedback to foster growth and connection
  6. Deliver expert testimony in court hearings, such as Termination of Parental Rights (TPR), return home hearings, and family time-specific proceedings
  7. Collaborate regularly with other professionals to determine the appropriate level and location of supervised visits
  8. Remain flexible in scheduling to meet the needs of families, adapting to changes as required
  9. Participate in team meetings, family engagement meetings, group supervision, staff training, and other agency or community engagements
  10. Performs related work, as required
  11. May be reassigned in emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:

A bachelor's degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker and

1 (one) year of human services casework experience

Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.

Additional related education may count towards required experience.

DRIVER'S LICENSE & RELIABLE VEHICLE:

  • Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record

BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:

  • A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Candidate must be able to navigate different terrains

BILINGUAL SKILLS:
  • Applicants must demonstrate English and Spanish fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration. 
    • Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must be able to drive to various home and community locations, including transporting children and parents
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working directly with families in home or community settings, with a focus on cultural sensitivity and strengths-based support


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Willingness to navigate challenging family dynamics while maintaining a focus on solutions and strengths
  • Familiarity with the principles and methods of social casework, with a commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Knowledge of community resources and agency rules and procedures related to assigned program area
  • Skill in interviewing techniques and crisis intervention methods
  • Ability to write reports concisely
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees, clients, agencies and the public
