Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a Head Start TeacherThe Head Start Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment for children ages 3–5 years. The teacher works in partnership with families, staff, and community partners to promote children's school readiness by fostering their cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development in alignment with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) and Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).

This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 7:45am - 4:15pm. This position will work out of 2850 Mapleton Ave., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salary Range: $55,116.00 - $67,254.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:

This position may receive paid breaks (summer/ fall/ winter/ spring) that closely align with the BVSD school district calendar.
  1. Plan and implement daily lesson plans that align with the approved curriculum and individual learning goals for children
  2. Create a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of children and families
  3. Conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain accurate documentation using approved tools (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD)
  4. Develop and maintain respectful, responsive relationships with families; participate in home visits and parent-teacher conferences
  5. Guide and support classroom staff (e.g., Teacher Assistants, Classroom Aides, Interns, and volunteers) to ensure high-quality interactions and practices
  6. Collaborate with Education, Family, and Health Services staff to ensure integrated services
  7. Maintain compliance with HSPPS, CO state licensing requirements, and local health and safety regulations
  8. Participate in learning and development, reflective supervision, team meetings, and coaching activities
  9. Support positive child behavior and use developmentally appropriate guidance techniques
  10. Performs related work, as required
  11. May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of:

  • An associate degree (AA) in early childhood education, or an AA in a field related to early childhood education and coursework equivalent to a major in early childhood education (30 credits), with experience teaching preschool-age children. In addition, candidates with a CDA in early childhood education who are working towards or willing to work towards obtaining an AA in early childhood education, child development, or in a related field with course work equivalent to a major (30 credits) relating to early childhood education within three years of hire are also eligible for this position

AND

  • 1 (one) year of preschool teaching experience

Additional related education may count towards required experience.

BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:

  • A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must have state credential (Early Childhood Professional Credential 2.0 or 3.0), through the Colorado Shines/PDIS system
  • Applicants must be CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certified, or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Applicants must possess current MyTeaching Strategies Inner-Rater Reliability for Preschool certification, including Dual-Language Learners and
    Children with Disabilities or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
    • Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field. 
  • Head Start experience
  • Experience with TS Gold and Creative Curriculum

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of the practices and principles of early childhood education
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Ability to supervise and instruct preschool children and children with special needs individually and in groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse families, including families living in poverty other employees and the public
  • Ability to work as part of a team, channeling communications appropriately and exercising good interpersonal skills
