Description

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office are currently seeking a Recording Administrative Technician to join our team. This position provides high-quality customer service to the public and performs a variety of administrative functions, including recording and indexing documents, while ensuring compliance with applicable Colorado Statutes.

The Clerk and Recorder’s office is committed to providing exceptional service for Boulder County residents throughout all divisions: Recording, Motor Vehicle, and Elections. We have an outstanding reputation in fulfilling our mission, and we are seeking an Administrative Technician who will adhere to compliance obligations and help provide excellent service to Boulder County residents. The Recording Division is responsible for recording and indexing real estate documents, including deeds, deeds of trust, liens, and subdivision plats; issuing marriage and civil union licenses; and preserving public records dating back to 1860. Grounded in the foundational principle that property ownership is central to our democracy, the Recording Division ensures that public records are accurate, accessible, and able to document both current and historical land ownership.

Our team of nine collaborates closely to assess inequities, develop solutions, promote improvement, and support one another in a positive, respectful workplace. We operate in a hybrid model, with on-average two of seven weeks spent in the office on a planned schedule, allowing us to deliver high-quality service remotely while also offering in-person support for those who prefer face-to-face assistance.

This is a full-time, benefited position. This position will work Monday-Thursday from 7:00-5:30pm. this position will work a Hybrid schedule, working both in the Boulder office and remotely. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hiring Salay Range: $52,008.00 - $57,150.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline

  • Phone Screening: Week of April 29th
  • First Round Interviews: Week of May 4th
  • Second Round Interviews: Week of May 11th
  • Reference Check: Week of May 14th

Examples of Duties

Compliance

  • Required to research, understand, and meet Colorado legislative compliance.
  • Comply with all cyber security requirements, training, and procedures.
  • Accountable for accuracy and compliance of all Recording transactions.

Public Service

  • Provide accurate, timely, and consistent information to the public across all channels (in person, email, phone).
  • Ensure services are accessible, equitable, and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully, recognizing the impact of our work on individuals and families.
  • Use sound judgment and established procedures to resolve issues efficiently and fairly.

Process And Procedures

  • Prepare documents for recording by checking statutory requirements, accuracy of fees, and exemptions.
  • Recording of documents: name, label, scan, and image review of documents while meeting documented expectations.
  • Index recorded documents according to statutes and SOPs.
  • Verify recorded documents according to statutes and SOPs.
  • Issue marriage and civil union licenses.
  • Maintain confidentiality of military records and marriage and civil union applications, as per statute.
  • Balance daily deposit each day accurately.
  • Provide input to ensure updated SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Assist with special projects.

Education & Experience

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of

  • A High School Diploma, or equivalent

AND

  • At least two years of office experience

Background Check
