Immediate Opening for a Highly Skilled Event Chef
Botanic is seeking a talented and driven Event Chef to lead the culinary execution of our private events program. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional, elevated Southern cuisine with a refined, fine dining approach. The Event Chef will oversee all aspects of food preparation and execution for events ranging from intimate gatherings of 20 guests to large-scale events exceeding 150 guests.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring creativity, organization, and a passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
Position Overview
The Event Chef is responsible for executing preset menus with precision, managing kitchen operations during events, and ensuring every dish reflects Botanic’s commitment to quality, presentation, and intentional Southern hospitality. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced event environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute preset event menus with consistency, precision, and high culinary standards
- Lead all back-of-house operations for private events from prep through service
- Oversee food preparation, plating, and presentation to ensure an elevated, fine dining experience
- Manage kitchen staff during events, including delegation of tasks and maintaining workflow efficiency
- Coordinate with event planners and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Ensure proper portioning, timing, and execution for events of various sizes
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef, preferably in catering, events, or fine dining environments
- Strong understanding of Southern cuisine with an elevated, modern approach
- Experience executing meals for large groups (50–150 guests) with consistency and quality
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a kitchen team during high-pressure service
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and kitchen operations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced event setting
- Food safety certification in ServSafe or other acceptable programs
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and event-based schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary degree or formal training in Culinary Arts
- Experience in private events, weddings, or upscale catering operations
- Strong plating and presentation skills with an eye for detail
- Experience with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients
- Creative input in menu planning and execution
