Duties
The Global Initiatives Events Coordinator promotes study abroad opportunities through workshops, presentations, and campus-wide recruitment and marketing campaigns. The coordinator will organize events, create marketing materials, and manage the study abroad website and social media pages. The position will also support faculty training for program development and will lead student pre-departure and re-entry orientations. The Global Initiatives Events Coordinator also provides support to the entire Global Initiatives unit including the International Student Services Office and Diplomatic Engagement activities. Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) helps students earn their college degree as quickly as possible by removing the financial, academic, and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. The Global Initiatives Events Coordinator performs duties and functions in the following areas:
- Coordinate and implement strategies to promote study abroad programs through workshops, classroom presentations, fairs, and social media campaigns.
- Organize study abroad events, including information sessions, pre-departure orientations, re-entry workshops, study abroad fairs, and international education week programming.
- Create and distribute marketing materials to increase awareness of study abroad opportunities.
- Update study abroad details and share promotional materials on office websites and social media platforms.
- Assist with faculty training workshops on program development, study abroad policies, and risk management
- Identify safety/security issues that may affect BMCC operations and personnel globally
- Assist with assessment, survey and data collection for all study abroad programs.
- Support study abroad scholarship workshops and support student applications for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, Fund for Education Abroad, Critical Language Scholarship etc.
- Monitor program budgets and coordinate with financial offices to ensure accurate billing and payments.
- Promote COIL and assist faculty engaging in COIL to expand global learning opportunities for students unable to participate in traditional study abroad programs.
- Guide and advise students through the study abroad process, including program selection, application, financial aid, and pre-departure preparation.
- Provide administrative/operational support and work on special projects for the International Student Services Office (ISSO) and the Office of Global Initiatives as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in study abroad coordination; knowledge of intercultural development; and demonstrated experience in student services.
- Proven ability to design and present well organized and informative programs/workshops
- Well-developed organizational skills: ability to manage time and handle multiple projects at once
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with Canva, Wordpress, and Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs
