Essential Functions

As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll provide essential cardiopulmonary care in an inpatient hospital setting while working closely with physicians and the healthcare team.

• Perform cardiopulmonary evaluations and deliver respiratory therapy treatments
• Set up, operate, and maintain oxygen therapy and inhalation equipment
• Administer therapies including aerosol treatments, chest physiotherapy, and incentive spirometry
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP therapy and airway care
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and pulmonary function testing
• Conduct EKGs and six-minute walk tests
• Assist with pulmonary rehabilitation programs
• Respond to emergencies, including performing CPR
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in electronic health records
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
• Provide education to patients, families, and staff
• Participate in quality assurance and follow all safety and infection control protocols

Competencies 

• Radial artery blood gas.
• Acapella Chest Physiotherapy.
• Pulmonary Rehabilitation/Pulmonary Function.
• Mechanical Ventilation.
• Pulmonary Function Testing.
• Home Sleep Study.

🎓 Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (CoARC accredited)
• RRT or CRT credential (required)
• Active West Virginia Respiratory Care License
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
• Minimum of 6 months direct patient care experience (preferred)
• Cardiopulmonary experience (preferred)

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on clinical role. You must be able to:

• Stand, walk, and move for extended periods
• Lift up to 50 lbs using proper techniques
• Bend, reach, twist, push, and pull regularly
• Perform repetitive motions and fine motor tasks
• Hear low and high pitch sounds in a clinical environment
