What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role

The Sr. Sanitation Lead Specialist will oversee the manual process of sanitizing production plants with a focus on food contact surfaces. Sr. Sanitation Lead Specialist will be responsible for several different plants and production areas and supervise employees to ensure completion of areas and will oversee the chemical application in assigned areas and ensure its removal, maintain a variety of routine records, and audit records completed by team employees.

  • Perform all functions of a Sanitation employee.
  • Set up and coordinate equipment and crew operations, including pressure washers, foam stations, chemical dispensing systems, and chemical and water piping. Apply proper cleaning chemicals to appropriate surfaces and equipment.
  • May be asked to rotate to a different area of the plant (same position and shift) based on business needs.
  • Maintain accurate daily log sheets to document completed tasks, including wash permits, MCC LOTO forms, chemical inventory, and tool inventory.
  • Audit team leads logs and documentation, including wash permits, lockout/tagout forms, and chemical and tool inventory records.
  • Perform Chemical test (titration)
  • Operate forklift for chemical transportation and trash disposal.
  • Engage in any critical or special situation and promptly discern if additional resources or senior managers are needed. Provide direct leadership and direction settings to all shifts to ensure that accurate communication and follow-up occur.
  • Ensure corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement processes are being utilized in manufacturing, and that action plans are verified and effective.
  • Assist department supervisors making go/no go decisions concerning chemical, cleaning and/or design impacts on production, maintenance, quality and sanitation issues.
  • Undertake and complete special projects assigned by the Sr. Sanitation Manager as necessary.
  • Provide technical expertise for environmental monitoring program development, monitoring and troubleshooting EMP.
  • Communicate and escalate any safety, food safety/quality or vendor issues and provide support as needed.
  • Support employee development through training, coaching, and mentoring sanitation team members.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of foam door dispensers.
  • Remove and install conveyor belts as required to support sanitation and operational needs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair foam stations and chemical piping systems to ensure proper sanitation functionality.
  • Assist in maintaining and troubleshooting sanitation equipment including pressure washers, floor scrubbers, including and no limited to disassembling or adjusting belts, and drain systems.
  • Monitor and maintain utilities related to sanitation (e.g., water supply, waste disposal and drain systems)
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must have great communication skills, ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be punctual, have an excellent attendance record, and be able to cooperate with others.
  • Must participate in all training programs.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School/GED or two to three years of experience in related experience and/or training or combination of both education and experience. 
  • Forklift Certification or must be able to obtain forklift certification within 30 days of hire   
  • Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three to five years of related experience/ or training in Sanitation
  • Bilingual (English /Spanish)

Physical Demands

  • Environmental exposure - cold/wet conditions (40 °Fahrenheit or below). 
  • Environmental exposure – hot/humid conditions (90 °Fahrenheit or below). 
  • Environmental exposure- wet, cold, and warm environments.
  • Material exposure-moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
  • Ability to lift/push-pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for an extended period.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis 
  • Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel on a regular basis 

Hours & Workdays

3 rd Shift (12:00AM -8:30am) Monday through Friday, when business requires overtime and weekends will be mandatory
