Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County. Boley Centers has an opening for a part-time Cashier.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Retail Team Manager and Assistant Retail Manager, the Cashier is responsible for customer service, operating a cash register, bagging, wrapping, displaying, stocking and rotating merchandise and assisting with facility security and maintenance.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operate cash register to ensure accurate and efficient sales data.
- Process cash, check, credit and tax exempt sales.
- Process credit exchanges, refunds and team member discount sales.
- Greet customers in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner and assist with price information and location of merchandise.
- Resolve customer complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Clean and maintain cash wrap, check out and display areas.
- Help maintain store security (i.e. relating to theft or pilferage, handling of cash receipts and deposits, access to facility etc.) according to Agency and store policies and procedures.
- Perform tape changes for register, credit card machine and may perform "X" readings, as well as credit card summaries/deposits.
- Assists with sales/promotions to include customer information, postings, special sign displays, read-a-boards etc.
- Regularly arrange merchandise to maximize display and exposure to include straightening merchandise on racks and shelves.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of High School Diploma/GED required with less than two years of related experience. If two or more years of related experience, education requirement may be waived.
At least one year of cashiering experience required. Additional experience in a retail setting may be substituted for six (6) months cashiering experience.
Able to reference materials, obtain information and/or perform intermediate mathematics. Able to operate various standard office machines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exerting over 80 pounds of force frequently in pushing and pulling, lifting objects of 50 pounds, carrying objects frequently over 80 pounds. Physical activities including balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching - above and/or below waist, sitting, standing, walking, feeling, talking, seeing, hearing, handling, driving, etc. at varying frequency and intensity may be required to satisfactorily perform one or more of the essential duties of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing and able to work mornings, evenings and weekends.
Must pass a level II background check and drug screen.
Must have a valid driver's license.
