Under the direction of the Director of Technology or designee, the Technology Support Technician role ensures adequate response to computer user requests for technical support. Instructs users to resolve problems on the use of a variety of common-to-advanced business and educational software such as learning tools, email, word processing, spreadsheet, operational systems, and district assets; Instructs users to resolve hardware problems; Assists in troubleshooting computer-related issues over the phone, in person or through the designated help desk. The position requires a working knowledge of personal computer workstations, cloud-based software, account provisioning methods, and techniques.Basic-to-working knowledge of the features and characteristics of a variety of software such as but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, help desk software, email, and system utilities. Basic knowledge of operating systems and configuration. Basic knowledge of SIS and email systems. Able to document steps for troubleshooting and solving agnostic and basic networking (data communication and remote software access) problems and solutions in a readable format. Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate and two years of experience in support and troubleshooting current computer/server hardware, software, and operating systems. Any combination equivalent to an associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field preferred. Exposure to systems involving applications and hardware support. Certificates regarding technical support or information systems are preferred.
