What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer IT Support Center Technician (student) position at Bob Jones University?
SUMMARY: Provide technical support for computer systems on campus by repairing, replacing, and deploying hardware and software components while providing answers to questions relating to support.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide solutions to users’ issues with computer hardware and software
- Research computer and software issues and offer resolutions
- Deliver and setup computer equipment
- Provide guidance and advice to customers on how to use equipment
- Maintain documentation in database of service calls
- Pursue self-education/development to enhance skills and abilities
- Must be punctual and accountable
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University/Academy/AHE
- Prefer applicant to be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license (to use IT vehicles)
- Good customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
- Aptitude for training and developing users
- Ability to proactively identify tasks that need to be done
- Ability to follow instructions and to pay attention to details
- Working knowledge of basic MS Office applications
- Desire and aptitude to learn new technologies
- Must (occasionally) lift/carry up to 20 lbs. and /or push/pull up to 25 lbs.
