We are currently looking for a Construction Safety Manager to work in our Houston, TX location.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provides Occupational Safety, Health, and OSHA 1910 and 1926 compliance for company-wide growth and expansion projects.
Responsibilities
Assures all safety activities are performed per company protocols, policies, and procedures for Growth and Maintenance Capital Projects
Ownership of Construction Safety Programs
Manages Contractor Safety Assessment Programs and Corrective Action Tracking
Manages SIMOPS program during construction activities
Manages Safety representation for Project Kick-Off Meetings, 3D Modeling Reviews, Project Progress Meetings, Process Hazard Analysis, Pre-commissioning, Pre-bid/Pre-job Meetings, Daily Tailgates, and Post-Construction After-Action Reviews
Manages SOW / MSA for Construction Project Safety contractors
Manages Project Safety Representatives
Manages Construction Event Investigation Program and Corrective Action Tracking
Manages the review of Site-Specific Safety Construction Plans
Manages the review of Construction Lift Plans
Manages Safety review of Project Job Plans and Job Safety Analysis
Manages Safety Signage, Fire Extinguishers, Eyewash stations, and AEDs
Manages the verification of high-hazard safety permitting and work activities
Manages the excavation and inspection program for projects
Liaisons with the BWP Physical Security Team on physical security issues
Represents the BWP Safety Team as a member of the Contractor Alliance Team
Manages Contractor Safety Statistics and Scorecards (Leading and Lagging Indicators)
Manages contractor safety oversight program through Veriforce (standardized safety questionnaire (SSQ) and waiver committee chairman)
Reports to the Dir of Employee Safety and Physical Security but works closely with Operations, Technical Services, Engineering, and Construction departments.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledgeable of OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent leadership and people skills
Excellent presentation development and delivery skills
Proactive attitude and approach to safety
Ability to self-direct and motivate
10-15 years managing construction safety projects
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with Oracle Enterprise Business Suite
Entry level to five years’ experience in an accounting position
CPA, CMA or working toward either
Work experience with a regulated utility
Audit or other financial background
Experience with an integrated financial system
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Knowledgeable of OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Excellent leadership and people skills
Excellent presentation development and delivery skills
Proactive attitude and approach to safety
