We are currently looking for an Associate Field Technician/Field Technician/Sr. Field Technician to work in our Houma, LA location.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for carrying out daily operations and maintenance task associated with he compressor station and pipeline activities and to assist with operations and maintenance of Gulf South Pipeline facilities located in the Houma, LA operating area. This position will be responsible for environmental health & safety and reliable for natural gas transmission through the pipeline system. Specific duties will consist of, but are not limited to, valve inspection and maintenance, tank gauging, pipeline locating, pipeline patrolling, gas sampling, damage prevention, one-calls, corrosion control, preventive pipeline maintenance and operations related to meter station, valve site and right of way maintenance, gas quality monitoring and assisting with construction and repairs of pipelines and associated facilities. This position will be responsible for recognition and reporting of abnormal and safety-related operating conditions, accident and near miss reporting, as well as emergency responses. In addition, this position is also responsible regulatory compliance, operations, maintenance, and repair procedures associated with DOT, industry standards, manufacturer, and company guideline as they related to facility equipment and appurtenances. This position will be expected to learn and operate the Houma area and to be part of the on-call rotation related to pipeline operations and for responding to emergencies or abnormal situations. The successful candidate will be required to live within 30 miles of Houma, LA in order to respond to call outs expediently and will be required to complete Core Blocks in Safety, Environmental and Company policies and procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Physical Requirements- Standing/walking; climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds; bending/stooping/squatting; carrying and lifting items 50lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet
Working Conditions- exposure to extreme heat and/or cold temperature and enclosed spaces
Mechanical aptitude
Strong Computer skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Problem solving skills and ability to manage filing system
History of safe work
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Boat operations
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with natural gas pipelines and compressor facilities
Experience with DOT 192 Regulations
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Associates degree or equivalent
