BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys a structured schedule, surgical support, and working in a collaborative, high-quality care environment.
Schedule & Position Details
- Full-time, daytime schedule
- Set days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- No weekend shifts
- On-call opportunties
- Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience
- Wisconsin Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required
- Surgical or anesthesia experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within a team
- Provide nursing care to stable surgical patients in accordance with hospital standards
- Perform physical exams, including accurate assessment of TPR, mucous membranes, and capillary refill time
- Monitor patient status and promptly report abnormalities to the veterinarian
- Place peripheral IV catheters and manage fluid therapy
- Set up and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps
- Administer subcutaneous fluids and monitor for signs of fluid overload
- Assist with anesthesia, including induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Maintain sterile technique and assist with surgical preparation
- Perform venipuncture and sample collection
- Support post-operative patient care and client communication
- Anesthesia administration, monitoring, and recovery
- Surgical support and sterile technique
- Medical math, including CRI setup
- Venipuncture and catheter placement (IV, NG/NE)
- Recognition of abnormal heart/lung sounds and vital parameters
- Operation of anesthesia and IV fluid equipment
- Basic bandaging and post-op care
