Primary Purpose/Scope
This position will be responsible to coordinate the strength & conditioning of assigned Bluefield University athletics teams; specific assignment to be determined. In conjunction with Sports Medicine and the coaching staff, the Strength and Conditioning Coach will provide workout and oversight of workouts.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, And Functions
The Coach is directly responsible to the Vice President of Student Development and Athletics. The Coach is responsible for the following:
Strength and Conditioning Administration (100%)

Specific vision abilities required by the job include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye. The operation of vehicles and the transportation of athletes are duties that are required at various times. Tasks such as working at a computer which involves extensive wrist and hand movements are also required.

The use of specialized equipment listed here is representative of equipment an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Specialized equipment would be equipment typically found in modern athletic facilities.
Working Conditions and Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the duties, responsibilities, and functions of this job. Supervisors are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual or gender harassment. Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors. The noise level is usually low to moderate. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to travel.

- Effectively teach and execute proper technique of lifts and drills, strong command and supervision of team workouts.
- Designs and conducts daily training programs in order to maximize physical performance of student-athletes.
- Assist in all aspects of the Bluefield Athletics daily operations.
- Assist sports medicine staff with rehabilitation of sports related injuries to student-athletes.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of BU Athletic facilities.
- Promote habits/policies/procedures that are in harmony with and supportive of, the institutional mission and philosophy of Bluefield University.
- Work with athletic training and medical health services as well as other departments to promote Bluefield University Athletics.
- Upholds confidentiality for student-athletes and their well-being.
- Interprets University policies to employees and enforces safety regulations
- Complies with all rules, policies, and procedures as established by Bluefield University.
- Complies with regular attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours
