What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookkeeper position at Bluebird Social?
WHO WE ARE
Bluebird Social is Boise's community-first outdoor social hub, located right on the Greenbelt. We bring people together with food trucks, free and ticketed shows, and a full calendar of seasonal events and concerts. Open and operating with a busy schedule of daily service and live events, Bluebird is a growing gathering place built on good food, good music, and good vibes.
THE ROLE
Bluebird is open and operating, and with a busy calendar of shows, events, and daily service, we need someone to keep the books clean, current, and accurate behind the scenes.
The Bookkeeper is a tactical, execution-focused role. This is a straightforward, hands-on position — ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who works hourly, may serve a few clients, and can reliably keep our financials organized in Xero. You'll handle day-to-day entry, reconciliation, and filings, working with agility as our event calendar and vendor activity evolve week to week.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
• Enter and maintain all financial activity in Xero — accurate, current, and organized
• Coordinate payroll with our payroll service (OnPay or similar), ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
• Reconcile Square Point of Sale activity against deposits and records
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable — vendor bills, invoicing, and payment tracking
• Perform inventory reconciliation and track Cost of Goods Sold expenses
• Prepare and file sales tax on schedule
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts
• Flag discrepancies, aging items, or anything that needs leadership's attention — nothing slips through the cracks
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally supporting multiple small-business clients on an hourly basis
• Proficiency in Xero (or similar accounting software) with the ability to work independently
• Experience coordinating payroll through payroll services (OnPay or similar)
• Familiarity with Square Point of Sale and reconciling POS activity
• Hands-on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable experience
• Inventory reconciliation and Cost of Goods Sold expense experience
• Experience with sales tax filings and monthly bank reconciliations
• Highly organized and detail-oriented — accurate entries, clean books, and deadlines met without reminders
• Effective communicator who keeps leadership informed and flags issues early
• Accounting experience with restaurants, bars, or event venues not required but helpful
