Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an advanced energy storage organization, is seeking a skilled Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist. This role is responsible for supporting laboratory and R&D safety initiatives, maintaining environmental and regulatory compliance programs, and overseeing hazardous materials and lithium-ion battery safety operations. The ideal candidate will help ensure a safe, compliant, and audit-ready work environment across laboratory and production settings.
Job Duties
- Implement and maintain EHS programs in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and state regulations
- Manage hazardous materials handling, chemical storage, and waste disposal processes
- Support laboratory safety initiatives and maintain chemical hygiene program compliance
- Guide lithium-ion battery handling, storage, transportation, and disposal procedures
- Conduct hazard assessments, safety inspections, and environmental compliance audits
- Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain records related to safety training, inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting
- Deliver EHS training covering chemical safety, PPE usage, emergency response, and hazardous materials procedures
- Assist with preparation for regulatory inspections and compliance audits
Required
- 3–5 years of EHS experience within laboratory, manufacturing, or R&D environments
- HAZWOPER certification (24-hour or 40-hour)
- Knowledge of OSHA laboratory safety standards and chemical hygiene requirements
- Experience managing SDS/MSDS documentation and hazardous waste programs
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery safety and energy storage material handling procedures
- Understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and state-level EHS regulations
- Experience performing risk assessments, compliance inspections, and safety audits
- Knowledge of environmental permitting and emergency response planning
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification
- Experience supporting battery R&D facilities or advanced energy storage laboratories
- Knowledge of fire protection systems and thermal runaway mitigation strategies
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections and agency audits
- Familiarity with confined space procedures and respirator safety programs
- Experience working in chemical or high-hazard laboratory environments
