What are the responsibilities and job description for the STEM Paraprofessional Teacher position at BLOOMINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL?
Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred, especially in education, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
- Valid paraprofessional certification (or ability to obtain)
- Meet federal/state requirements for paraprofessionals (e.g., completion of 48 college hours or passing a paraprofessional assessment, if applicable)
AsSpecial Knowledge/Skills:
- Basic knowledge of STEM concepts (science, technology, engineering, and math) appropriate for elementary students
- Ability to support hands-on, inquiry-based learning activities and experiments
- Strong organizational skills to manage materials, tools, and STEM resources
- Ability to assist with small group instruction and reinforce teacher-led lessons
- Knowledge of basic technology tools (Chromebooks, tablets, educational apps, coding platforms, etc.)
- Ability to follow teacher lesson plans and provide instructional support
- Strong classroom management support skills
- Effective communication skills with students, staff, and parents
- Ability to motivate and engage students in problem-solving and critical thinking
- Flexibility and willingness to support multiple grade levels and instructional settings
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
