About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in New Orleans, LA, for the 20252026 school year. This full-time role provides specialized instruction and support to K12 students with visual impairments, helping them access curriculum and develop essential skills for independence.
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to meet students visual needs
Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
Participate in IEP meetings and develop appropriate accommodations
Maintain documentation and progress reports in compliance with district guidelines
Requirements:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or Visual Impairment
Valid Louisiana teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairment
Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
Previous experience in school settings preferred
Strong communication and collaboration skills
