About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts for heavy civil and site development projects in the Houston market. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, competitive estimates and supporting work acquisition across earthwork, utilities, and infrastructure scopes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for earthwork, underground utilities, and site development projects.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and analyse plans, specifications, and geotechnical data.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop unit costs, pricing strategies, and maintain historical cost data.
- Identify risks, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities.
- Collaborate with operations and project management teams to align estimates with execution
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions.
- Support bid clarifications and negotiations.
- Mentor junior estimators.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 8–12 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
- Strong background in earthwork, underground utilities, and site development.
- Knowledge of Houston market conditions and subcontractor base.
- Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Ability to interpret civil drawings and technical documents.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with public and private sector projects.
- Familiarity with DOT, municipal, and developer-driven work.
- Experience with self-performing contractors or design-build delivery.
