Duties
- Safely operate Class B Truck We have box trucks with liftgates
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques or equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Navigate routes confidently using GPS navigation systems to ensure on-time deliveries while optimizing travel paths.
- Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations during all operations.
- Handle logistics cargo with precision, including securing loads on flatbeds or tankers and managing dangerous goods according to safety standards.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure trucks meet safety standards; report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or unforeseen delays.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with Class B vehicles and route driving scenarios.
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission trucks and understanding of truck mechanics.
- Knowledge of refrigeration units for refrigerated trailer operations and handling of hazardous materials or dangerous goods is preferred.
- Strong skills in manual handling, load & unload procedures, and logistics cargo handling techniques.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and real-time adjustments.
- Ability to adhere strictly to FMCSA, DOT, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols during all phases of operation.
- Experience with forklift operation is a plus for loading/unloading cargo at facilities.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance; previous delivery driver experience is highly valued.
