EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (Basic) Full-Time

JOB Under the general direction of an EMS Supervisor, perform the duties of an EMT-Basic by administering emergency basic life support to victims of accidents and citizens in need of emergency medical care. Perform duties of non-emergency medical transport and ambulance services. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES An employee in this classification performs the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician at the Basic level; operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and administering appropriate emergency medical care to patients while enroute to a hospital. Employee is responsible for responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons and transporting persons to a medical facility. Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through observation, reports, and discussion concerning the quality and effectiveness of duties and responsibilities SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION High school graduation or GED; Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Board as an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic.

Special Requirements

• Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
• Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Boards as an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic
• Current certifications in CPR
• NIMS certifications 100, 200, 700, and 800.
• High school diploma or GED
