Description
The Bladen Community College Foundation supports the College's mission by connecting resources and partnerships that empower students, strengthen programs, and enrich the community. The Foundation Executive Director serves as the chief fundraising officer, leading all development initiatives with a strong emphasis on capital campaigns and major gifts. Working closely with the Foundation Board, College President, and Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership to grow philanthropic support for scholarships, academic programs, and capital projects.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides strategic direction and leadership for all Foundation fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement initiatives.
- Plans, manages, and executes capital fundraising campaigns and major gift solicitations.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes annual giving, endowments, planned giving, and special projects.
- Cultivates relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners to expand philanthropic support.
- Oversees donor recognition, stewardship, and impact reporting.
- Prepares proposals and supporting materials for grants and major gifts.
- Directs Foundation operations, including budgeting, recordkeeping, and event planning.
- Represents the College and Foundation in the community through outreach, presentations, and partnerships.
- Provides leadership, mentorship, and supervision to Foundation staff, ambassadors, interns, and work-study students.

Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proven success in major gift solicitation and capital campaign management.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and project management abilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and across departments.
- Experience with donor databases, Microsoft Office, and fundraising software.
- Knowledge of nonprofit and higher education fundraising principles.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business, nonprofit management, or related field required. Minimum three years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit leadership required; experience in capital campaign management preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Strong written and oral communication skills required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
