We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations across the U.S. and Canada, supporting a workforce over 15,000 employees. This is a high-impact, visible role responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processes while driving continuous improvement and strong internal customer service.
What You’ll Do
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations across North America, ensuring timely and accurate processing for hourly and salaried employees
- Oversee multi-cycle payroll processing, including tax, garnishments, general ledger, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, internal controls, and federal/state/provincial regulations
- Manage and develop a high-performing payroll team, providing guidance on complex payroll issues
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, HRIS, Finance, Tax, and Accounting to ensure seamless payroll execution
- Drive process improvements, system enhancements, and payroll-related technology initiatives
- Oversee payroll accounting activities, including reconciliations and month/quarter/year-end reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll tax filings, deposits, and year-end processes (W-2s, etc.)
- Maintain and enhance payroll procedures, documentation, and audit readiness
- Analyze payroll data and metrics to improve operational efficiency and service quality
- 5 years of payroll experience in an in-house environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax, accounting, and compliance practices
- Experience managing payroll operations at scale and navigating complex HR/payroll processes
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and lead diverse teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with HRIS systems (SuccessFactors/Employee Central preferred)
- Experience implementing payroll or timekeeping system enhancements
- Background supporting manufacturing or hourly workforce environments
- Experience with SOX controls and audit processes
