Description

Automation Commissioning Field Technician will support both shop-based assembly/testing and field-based commissioning/startup of electrical control systems and equipment. This role involves hands-on technical work, adherence to strict safety and quality standards, and collaboration with engineering and field teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and stage jobs per Bills of Material (BOM) and direction from shop leadership
• Review engineering drawings and identify any errors or omissions before beginning assembly
• Report documentation or design issues immediately to the shop lead
• Assist team members with the safe handling and movement of large projects
• Build and maintain electrical control panels in compliance with UL508A standards
• Support testing, quality checks, and preparation of completed jobs for shipment
• Develop and maintain knowledge in commissioning and startup of VFDs, field instrumentation, basic PLC platforms, and basic networking equipment
• Diagnose equipment and system issues independently or with remote assistance from a Process Engineer
• Support site commissioning and startup activities, including diagnostics and startup of panel wiring, instrument wiring, and network diagnostics
• Establish remote connections with Programming Engineers to assist with advanced troubleshooting
  
  

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate preferred
• 2 - 5 years of experience with industrial instrumentation and controls
• Understanding of electrical control panels and electrical design
• General PLC knowledge
• Valid driver’s license required
