Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Generation (Combined Cycle)
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of electrical systems supporting combined cycle power plants and other power generation facilities. This role plays a critical part in delivering safe, reliable, and efficient electrical infrastructure for new combined-cycle builds, plant expansions, uprates, and modernization projects, as well as simple-cycle installations where applicable.
You will provide technical leadership across power distribution, protection, and control systems, supporting generation assets that include gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), balance-of-plant systems, and auxiliary electrical systems. With safety as a top priority, you will implement arc flash mitigation, fault protection, and code-compliant designs while supporting projects from early engineering through construction and commissioning.

Senior Level Requirements

Responsibilities & Expectations
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems and power distribution networks for combined cycle and simple cycle power generation facilities
- Develop electrical designs for new combined-cycle power plants, expansions, uprates, and retrofit projects, including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and auxiliary power systems
- Provide electrical engineering support for generation assets including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, condensers, cooling systems, and balance-of-plant equipment
- Integrate plant electrical systems with control, protection, and monitoring platforms to enhance operational reliability and plant performance
- Implement and review arc flash mitigation strategies, grounding systems, and fault protection schemes to ensure personnel and equipment safety
- Produce and review electrical one-lines, schematics, equipment specifications, cable schedules, and construction drawings
- Manage electrical scopes from conceptual engineering and FEED through detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and turnover
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, IEEE, and other applicable power industry codes and standards
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, I&C, and project management teams to deliver fully integrated combined-cycle plant solutions
- Support troubleshooting, outage support, and root-cause analysis for operating power generation facilities
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight to ensure quality, consistency, and engineering best practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
Senior Level Requirements
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience supporting combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or large-scale power generation projects
- Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with safety as a core value
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general PC skills
- Demonstrated experience reviewing arc flash studies and implementing mitigation measures in power plant environments
- Working knowledge of electrical design codes and standards, including NEC, NEMA, IEEE, and applicable power generation standards
- Preferred: Experience with combined-cycle plant electrical systems and auxiliary power distribution
- Preferred: Experience coordinating electrical scope with I&C and DCS teams
- Preferred: Experience with PLC-based systems supporting balance-of-plant or auxiliary systems
- Preferred: Project engineering or project management experience on power plant EPC projects
- Preferred: Experience supporting Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC execution phases for combined-cycle power plants
- Preferred: Construction support and commissioning experience at operating power generation facilities
