We’re supporting a large-scale, mission-critical electrical infrastructure project and are looking for an experienced Electrical Inspector to join the team. This is a hands-on, field-based contract role focused on quality, safety, and compliance across medium- and high-voltage electrical systems.
This position plays a key role during construction, testing, commissioning, and closeout, working closely with contractors, engineers, and commissioning teams to ensure installations meet all applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Inspect and verify installation of low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems, including:
- HV underground duct banks, conduits, direct-buried cable, and grounding systems
- MV/HV feeders, terminations, splices, and raceway systems
- Switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, and MCCs
- Cable tray systems and cable routing/support
- UPS systems, generators, transformers, and ATS equipment
- Lighting, controls, emergency power, and life safety systems
- Instrumentation and control interfaces and field wiring
- Verify compliance with NEC / NFPA 70, IEEE standards, and local/state/project-specific codes
- Review and interpret drawings, one-lines, schematics, specifications, and vendor submittals
- Identify non-conformances and safety concerns; document findings and track corrective actions to closure
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, and client representatives
- Witness electrical testing, meggering, hi-pot testing, relay testing, energization, and commissioning
- Prepare daily inspection reports, punch lists, and final turnover documentation
- Enforce site safety requirements in accordance with OSHA and NFPA 70E
What We’re Looking For:
- 5–10 years of experience in electrical inspection, electrical construction, or electrical QA/QC
- Proven experience with HV underground, MV, and HV electrical systems
- Experience supporting data centers, substations, power generation, industrial plants, or large infrastructure projects
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills
Strong working knowledge of:
- NEC / NFPA 70
- IEEE electrical standards
- Electrical testing and commissioning practices
Preferred Certifications:
- Electrical Inspector Certification (ICC, IAEI, or equivalent)
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- NFPA 70E
- NICET Electrical (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and inspect large, active construction sites
- Ability to climb ladders and access trenches, vaults, and equipment rooms
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. as required
