About the Role:
Blacklock Group is partnering with a well-established private equity firm based in New York to identify an Associate (2027 start) for its Financial Institutions Group (FIG) investment team. The firm focuses on investments across financial services, including banks, insurance, asset management, and fintech, partnering closely with management teams to drive strategic growth and value creation.
The team operates in a collaborative, hands-on environment, offering significant exposure to senior leadership and portfolio company executives. This role provides the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility across the full investment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain complex financial models, including LBOs, operating models, and transaction analyses
- Conduct in-depth industry research and competitive landscape assessments across financial institutions and fintech
- Lead due diligence workstreams and coordinate with external advisors (consultants, accountants, legal, regulatory specialists)
- Prepare investment memoranda and materials for internal committees
- Support deal structuring, negotiation, and execution
Portfolio Management:
- Monitor portfolio company performance, including financials, regulatory metrics, and key KPIs
- Support management teams on strategic initiatives, digital transformation, and operational improvements
- Assist with add-on acquisitions and exit processes
Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or transaction advisory
- FIG experience (banks, insurance, fintech, or asset management) strongly preferred
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skillset, with exposure to financial services models
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation abilities
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
