This position is responsible for providing secretarial and customer service support for the operations of the department.• Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel.
• Logs and dispatches inspection requests.
• Reviews and processes permit and land development applications.
• Issues construction-related permits as appropriate.
• Maintains office files and records.
• Prepares a variety of correspondence, including letters and notices.
• Suggests edits and improvements to the website.
• Maintains meeting room schedules.
• Maintains and updates reports and suggests edits to office forms.
• Prepares for and attends advisory board and commission meetings; provides support and records minutes.
• Performs related duties.
• Manages, handles and balances the petty cash fund and prepares daily deposits.• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.• Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
