The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for full time day shift to provide direct resident care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Responsibilities include assisting residents with activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and assisting with meals. CNAs monitor and report changes in residents' condition, help maintain a safe and clean environment, and support residents' comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Compassion, teamwork, and strong communication skills are essential.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must complete a state-approved nurse aide training program of at least 75 hours.
- Must pass both a written (or oral, if needed) exam and a skills demonstration test.
- Must be placed on the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals & Licensing (DIAL) Direct Care Worker (DCW) Registry to work in nursing homes/skilled nursing facilities.
- Must undergo a criminal background check (and abuse/neglect registry check) before training/class participation.
- Immunization/health requirements: many programs require TB testing (two-step TB skin test or alternative), influenza, hepatitis B (or waiver), etc.
