Position Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential nursing care to residents. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician, the LPN ensures that residents receive quality care tailored to their individual needs. This role involves administering medications, monitoring health conditions, and supporting the overall well-being of residents.
Mission of Birkwood Village & Montrose Health Center: Provide personalized care while fostering lasting relationships
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Resident Care: Provide hands-on care, including assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
- Medication Administration: Safely administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report changes in residents' conditions to RNs and physicians.
- Supervision: Oversee and support Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to ensure quality care is delivered consistently.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records, including progress notes, assessments and medication administration.
- Infection Control: Implement and adhere to infection prevention protocols to ensure a safe environment for residents and staff.
- Resident Advocacy: Promote residents' rights and provide emotional support to enhance their quality of life.
- Family Communication: Keep families informed about residents' health status and address any concerns or questions.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Iowa.
- Education: Completion of an accredited LPN program.
- Experience: Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
