Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant – Accounts Receivable for a temporary assignment with the potential to transition into a full-time position based on performance and business needs. This role will be responsible for overseeing accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely collections, maintaining accurate customer account records, supporting month-end close activities, and assisting with financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and receivables management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, cash application, collections, and account reconciliations.
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments and resolve outstanding balances.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and customer inquiries.
- Prepare and analyze aging reports and recommend collection strategies.
- Reconcile accounts receivable subledger to the general ledger.
- Record and review journal entries related to accounts receivable activities.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Assist with revenue recognition and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate customer master data and account documentation.
- Prepare reports and analyses for management regarding receivables performance and cash flow.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and schedules.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounts receivable processes and internal controls.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to resolve customer account issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 years of accounting experience with significant focus on Accounts Receivable.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes, collections, and reconciliations.
- Experience with general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and data analysis.
- Experience with DealerTrack, NetSuite or similar preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CPA-track candidate preferred.
- Experience managing high-volume receivables environments.
- Knowledge of revenue recognition principles and internal controls.
- Prior experience mentoring junior accounting or AR staff.
Position Details
