Key Responsibilities
- Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students during classroom instruction, school activities, meetings, and related educational settings.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, peers, and families as appropriate.
- Support student access to academic content and classroom participation.
- Interpret in a variety of educational settings, including individual, small group, and classroom environments.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with educational and ethical standards.
- Assist with promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate service documentation as required by the district.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
- Educational interpreting experience preferred.
- Relevant interpreting certification preferred (RID, EIPA, or state-specific credentials).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary educational team.
- Knowledge of educational terminology and school-based environments preferred.
- School-based setting supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Collaborative environment with support from educators, administrators, and related service providers.
