What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Scientist position at BioTalent?
We're partnering with an innovative oncology biotech seeking a Senior Scientist to help advance a pipeline of targeted cancer therapies. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role focused on elucidating drug efficacy and mechanism of action, with a particular emphasis on receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) biology, ideally HER2.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in discovery research, generating critical data that informs program strategy and supports the advancement of novel oncology therapeutics.
The Opportunity
As part of a collaborative research team, you will:
- Design and execute in vitro efficacy, mechanism of action, target validation, and biomarker studies for oncology programs
- Apply deep expertise in RTK signaling biology, with a preference for HER2-focused experience
- Manage and maintain cancer and normal cell culture models
- Generate engineered cell lines using CRISPR and inducible expression systems
- Develop and optimize reporter-based assays and cellular models
- Analyze and communicate scientific findings to internal stakeholders and external audiences
- Contribute to conference abstracts, scientific publications, and other research communications
- Establish robust experimental workflows, documentation practices, and troubleshooting procedures
- Support multiple research programs within a fast-paced, collaborative environment
What We're Looking For
- PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or a related discipline (Master's degree with significant relevant experience will also be considered)
- 3 years of industry and/or postdoctoral experience in oncology research
- Demonstrated expertise in receptor tyrosine kinase biology, ideally including HER2 signaling and targeted therapies
- Strong background in oncology pharmacology assays and mechanistic biology studies
- Experience developing and characterizing cellular models, including CRISPR-engineered systems
- Track record of scientific communication through publications, presentations, or conference abstracts
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing biotechnology company where you'll have the chance to make a meaningful scientific impact while helping to advance next-generation therapies for patients with cancer.
