Senior Scientist (Durham, NC, USA) – Join a Growing Biotech Company!
The Senior Scientist is part of the Product Development team at LaCAR US, Inc., responsible for assay development projects to add new assays to the growing portfolio of test solutions offered in the Newborn Screening business. The Scientist will lead and perform studies focused on the development and optimization of new enzymatic assays, clinical chemistry assays and immunoassays. This role will directly report to the Head of Solution Lifecycle Management.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development of new enzymatic assays, clinical chemistry assays (enzyme, substrate and general chemistry) and immunoassays on the digital microfluidic platform.
- Optimize assay design and reagent formulations using DOE tools to achieve desired levels of performance and stability.
- Analyze experimental results and provide written protocols, reports and oral presentations.
- Characterize assay performance across various analytical performance metrics including precision, specificity and sensitivity.
- Derive solutions for technical challenges imposed by system constraints.
- Establish product specifications and critical characteristics.
- Interface with internal Operations team for design transfer and commercialization activities.

Your Qualifications:
- BS in life sciences or related fields with 5 years of industry experience, Masters with 3 years, or PhD with 2 years
- Strong understanding of biochemical concepts, analytical techniques, and experience with DOE, RCA and FMEA tools.
- Prior demonstrated experience in multifunctional assay development (MS/MS, ELISA, biochemical, among other modalities)
- Experience in newborn screening assay development is strongly preferred.
- Experience using MATLAB, R, Python or other statistical tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with CLSI guidelines, cGMP, FDA requirements preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a biosafety level 2 lab environment.
Working Conditions:
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt.
Onsite in Durham, NC, USA.
BSL 2 Laboratory, Office.
Long periods of sitting and/or standing.
