This role involves executing downstream processing activities including protein purification, characterization, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in biochemistry, biotechnology, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in protein purification techniques in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform protein purification using a variety of chromatography techniques such as affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion, and hydrophobic interaction.
- Prepare buffers and reagents following SOPs and project-specific protocols.
- Characterize protein products using SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC, UV spectroscopy, BCA assay, and other analytical methods.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of experimental procedures and results.
- Troubleshoot and optimize purification protocols as needed to improve yield and purity.
- Collaborate closely with upstream, analytical, and quality teams to ensure project timelines and specifications are met.
- Assist in the revision and creation of SOPs, batch records, and technical reports.
- Support additional tasks and projects as assigned by the department supervisor.
- BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Biochemistry or related field with 1 years of relevant experience in protein purification/characterization.
- Familiarity with AKTA systems and chromatography software is a strong plus. Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and data integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience in a CRO or CDMO setting is preferred.
- Location Requirement: Must be able to work on-site in Piscataway, NJ.
