What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiving-Bulk Shipping Clerk position at Biomedical Research Laboratories LLC?
All staff members will fulfill the following responsibilities at an acceptable level of performance:
Unload and inspect product for damage, verify receipt of items, verify product received to PO as well as product
specification sheets and initiate an NCR (Non-Conformance Report) if needed. Pull samples as required, identify
products received with status/disposition tags. Process receipt of inventory items in via Sage or Mobe3, and back-flush as required. Identify/tag inventory items and move to appropriate warehouse storage locations.
a. Identify/review all items requiring an SDS/MSDS (Safety Data Sheet) or GHS labeling (Globally Harmonized System) log and/or file appropriately.
b. Identify International inventory that needs to be up stacked for shipping. Will customize corner boards, wrap and strap the pallets, before moving from the receiving floor, if possible.
- Pull/pick inventory items and prepare for shipment, verify items pulled and assure that they are released for shipment, prepare appropriate/required shipment documentation per shipment SOP’s, coordinate with and acquire necessary permits and/or certificates from International Product Registration.
- File freight claims as necessary for goods/products that are received damaged.
- Research/Resolve inventory discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- Receive or initiate MDA’s and acquire appropriate signatures to return, donate, or scrap appropriate inventory
items.
- Shipment Log: This log needs to be updated by the team as each new shipment is processed for the Sandy facility.
- Claim Log: This log needs to be updated as each claim is issued and/or processed.
- Material Destruction Authorization (MDA) log: This log needs to be updated as each new MDA is processed.
Monitor and track the status of all active MDA’s. Regular filing of the MDA documentation during the process and
then at the completion of the MDA.
- Receipt Log: This log needs to be updated by the team as each receipt/delivery is logged for tracking statistical data.
- Accurately identifies HTS classification for products that are shipping internationally.
- Review and determine a cost-efficient method to ship product, ensuring that the appropriate transportation mode
and carrier are utilized.
- Acquires rate quotes to complete domestic/international shipment documentation as required.
- All other duties that may be assigned. example.
a. Palletization Specification: Using software, like Stack Builder, to determine the optimal arrangement of
items on a pallet for efficient and safe transportation and storage.
Qualifications:
- Must have good communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and effectively in speech and writing.
- 3 years of warehouse/distribution experience preferred; however, motivated self-directed candidates may be considered.
- Must have strong leadership qualities.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to read, understand, and pull orders using various reports or picklists.
- Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have the ability to come in early and/or stay late and work overtime as required, sometimes with short notice.
Fluent understanding of Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) with the ability to research, determine, classify and/or modify as necessary for importation or exportation.
Skills:
- Must have strong math and reading skills as well as good communication skills.
- Must be a team player, self-motivated and dependable.
- Must have forklift experience with a minimum of 1 year of experience; however, 3 years are preferred.
- Must have a good/strong Microsoft Outlook (email) Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel skills to create simple to complex documents.
- Must be very detail oriented, have good organizational skills and have the ability to work under stringent time restraints.
