Duties
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning fresh produce, meats, and other items according to recipes, par levels and safety standards
- Assist in assembling dishes during meal service, ensuring presentation and quality are maintained
- Follow food safety protocols diligently to maintain cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients needed for upcoming meals or catering events
- Handle food with care, adhering to proper food handling procedures at all times
- Maintain organized storage of ingredients and supplies to facilitate efficient kitchen operations
- Assist with basic cooking tasks under supervision, including heating, mixing, and plating dishes
Experience
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques is essential
- Familiarity with kitchen tools such as knives and other culinary equipment is important
- Experience in menu planning or meal preparation for large groups or catering events is a plus
