Job Summary:
The Grant Writer supports the revenue generating efforts of Bill Wilson Center by effectively composing, compiling and submitting corporate, foundation and government grant proposals. This is a full-time, non-contract position located in Santa Clara, CA.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Compose, compile, and edit grant applications that are compelling, persuasive, and well-developed.
- Research and analyze funders, making connections between their interests and BWC program outcomes.
- Research and be knowledgeable of community needs and issues.
- Meet with Program Managers, Directors, Division Directors, and Chief Executive Officer as needed to remain informed of agency and program needs.
- Assist with maintaining current funding and generating increased funding from grantors.
- Manage systems (electronic and paper) for tracking completed grant contracts.
- Oversee electronic filing system of MOUs and operational agreements.
- Manage relationships with funders, with specific emphasis on corporate, foundation, and government entities.
- Maintain database of information about funders, including deadlines, areas of interest, request for funding, contact people and any contact made with funder.
- Assist with maintenance of grant files – funded and not funded.
- Ensure that funder’s reporting requirements are met through communication with Bill Wilson Center accounting department, database manager, director of agency program quality improvement and program staff.
- Participate in agency Program Quality Improvement activities and initiatives.
- Participate in agency Safety initiatives and proactively report safety issues to Facility Manager.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and a minimum four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Should exhibit advanced writing skills with high level knowledge of grammar and spelling.
- Excellent communication skills required. Must be able to manage multiple timelines and deadlines and work independently.
- Knowledge of California foundations and corporate community, especially those who invest in youth programs, is desirable.
- Knowledge of mental health and social services trends and best practices a plus.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with a wide range of work styles, while at the same time working independently while maintaining open and transparent communications about workload and special projects.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Salary Range:
$80,000 - $110,000 per year.
