A summer contract opportunity is available for a licensed school nurse to provide essential health services to students during the summer session in Bethlehem, PA. This role focuses on promoting student wellness and ensuring a safe, supportive environment conducive to learning and developmental growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage student illness or injuries promptly, administering first aid as necessary
- Deliver preventive health services addressing students physical, mental, emotional, and social needs
- Educate students, parents/guardians, and school staff on various health-related topics
- Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding student health concerns
- Implement and document the districts school health program in compliance with guidelines
- Foster a safe, healthy school atmosphere for all attendees
Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN or RN) in Pennsylvania, with a preference for Registered Nurse credentials
- Certified Educational Specialist by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Instructor certifications
- Ideally, 35 years of nursing experience, particularly in pediatrics or school health settings
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, and reach during work hours
- Effective communication skills (vision, hearing, speech)
- Capability to safely lift or carry 1025 pounds
- Mobility to navigate school buildings and event spaces independently
Schedule and Location:
- Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
- Position available July 6 through July 30
- Onsite placement in Bethlehem, PA
