Make a meaningful impact as a compassionate, experienced school nurse supporting a dedicated student in a one-on-one environment. This contract role offers the opportunity to assist an 18-year-old male diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia, spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, eosinophilic esophagitis, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. The assignment covers approximately 40 hours per week, continuing through the summer and into the upcoming school year, with the potential to extend into the following term.
In this position, you will play a pivotal role by providing direct care and assistance to the student both during transport and throughout the school day at a specialized program. Begin the day at the student’s residence, then accompany him via van to the program, offering continuous 1:1 medical, safety, and daily living support. At the end of the day, you’ll ride back with the student to his home, ensuring his needs are met every step of the way.
Key qualifications and competencies:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or RN license required
- Previous experience with medically complex school-age students preferred
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to respond to varied medical needs
- Skilled in supporting students with mobility challenges and visual impairments
- Compassion, patience, and dedication to advocacy
Essential responsibilities:
