What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Start Teacher position at Big Sandy Area Community Action Program?
Big Sandy Area Community Action Program is seeking qualified candidates for a Teacher
for Model City Head Start in Pikeville.
Responsibilities include:
¨ Planning, creating, and implementing a dynamic daily program to promote the developmental learning of young children.
¨ Coordinating with other Head Start staff to ensure a comprehensive program in accordance with established program goals.
¨ Maintain good relationships with parents and assist in ensuring continued parent involvement in program planning.
¨ Maintain required classroom records.
¨ Ride the school bus on occasion to provide assistance to the children and bus driver.
Qualifications:
¨ Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 15 hours in Early Childhood Education is preferred or must be completed within 36 months of hire.
¨ CDA credentialing required at time of hire if candidate has not obtained an Associates degree.
¨ One year of experience working with preschool age children is preferred.
¨ Must possess knowledge of preschool education principles and practices.
¨ Candidate must have the ability to see, hear, and communicate with children, ability to lift up to 45 pounds, physically interact with children through running, chasing, bending, lifting, climbing, and standing.
¨ Valid driver’s license is required.
