Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of residents
- Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly activity calendars, including group programs, one-on-one engagement, and special events
- Assess residents’ interests, abilities, and needs to create individualized activity plans
- Lead and facilitate activities such as games, arts and crafts, music, exercise, and social events
- Coordinate community involvement, including volunteers, entertainers, and outside organizations
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to activity programming, including documentation and care planning
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation, preferences, and progress
- Collaborate with nursing and other departments to support resident-centered care
- Manage activity supplies, equipment, and budget effectively
- Train, supervise, and support activity staff and volunteers
- Participate in care plan meetings and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all residents during activities
- Previous experience in activities, recreation, or a related field within a skilled nursing or long-term care setting preferred
- Strong understanding of resident engagement, dementia care, and person-centered programming
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and events
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Creative, energetic, and passionate about improving the lives of seniors
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for events
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to activity services in long-term care
